Dasmariñas, Philippines (May 17, 2024) Volunteers from 4Life Philippines and the Gawad Kalinga (GK) Foundation participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for a village that will carry the 4Life name.
This collaboration will include 20 houses. Volunteers¬, including 4Life Affiliates and staff and future homeowners, will build the houses. The first group of houses will be constructed on July 1, 2024, during a visit from Foundation 4Life Director Jenna Lisonbee.
The Gawad Kalinga Foundation’s goal is to build 20,000 barangays (villages) to help fight poverty and restore human dignity. GK villages are developed with aid from donors and the government. Last April, Foundation 4Life Philippines donated 5 million pesos (approximately $85,000 USD) to the Gawad Kalinga Foundation. 4Life Filipino Affiliates hope to raise an additional 1 million pesos to fund the forthcoming 4Life village.
Attendees at the groundbreaking ceremony included local administrative official Gregorio Upo (Barangay Captain of Sampaloc 3), 4Life General Manager Eileen Tan-Dario, and GK Key Accounts Managers Joy Guillema and Vangie Seema.
Tan-Dario: “This groundbreaking ceremony is the start of a major Foundation 4Life activity here in the Philippines. We sincerely hope that our Affiliates join us in our drive to ‘Be like Bianca’ by participating in our fundraising activity to reach one million pesos in donations. We dedicate the 4Life village to our dear Bianca.”
David and Bianca Lisonbee launched 4Life in 1998. Bianca, committed to a lifetime of service, then founded Foundation 4Life in 2006. She passed away in October of last year.
